Valerie Francis is a writer, story editor and podcaster based in Newfoundland & Labrador, Canada. She writes “coming of middle age” stories featuring female protagonists in midlife. Her books run across genres and are designed to entertain readers, allowing them to escape their hectic schedules and the pressures of life.

As a podcaster, Valerie cohosts Story Nerd, a show designed for writers who are serious about their craft. Each week they discuss an aspect of story theory, review query letters and sample pages sent in by listeners, and interview guest agents to get their take on storytelling and the publishing industry.

Now an empty-nester, Valerie is the proud mom of two adult children, two English Labrador Retrievers, and two elderly cats.

In her spare time, Valerie is a competitive powerlifter. To date, she has two provincial championships under her belt, along with four provincial records. She is currently ranked third in the country for her class.
