Tawny McVay is a writer, content creator, and goat mom, better known to her two million+ followers as the face behind Since We Woke Up, where she shares her life in a school bus-turned-tiny home. A firm believer in romanticizing everyday moments and creating whimsy in the mundane, she offers her tale in the hope that it creates inspiration for others to find similar beauty in theirs. Her philosophy is simple: if it is the small, ordinary moments where most of life unfolds, why are we taught to celebrate only the highlights instead of savoring the sacred day-to-day humdrum?

When she isn’t busy seeking joy in simplicity, you’ll find Tawny somewhere in the woods of Missouri, where she lives with her current and former husbands, their two children and granddaughter, and a menagerie of ducks, goats, chickens, dogs, and wildlife. She’s currently working on her second book, a cultural memoir exploring themes of grief and wonder, community, and our individual lives within the larger societal narrative.
